PATRICIA ROSEN

Patricia Rosen is the Publisher of The Sober World Magazine. The Sober World Magazine educates families and people who are suffering from addiction. It is the only magazine of its kind that provides education and resources about addiction and recovery. The magazine is directly mailed each month to anyone who has been arrested for drugs or alcohol as well as distributing to schools, colleges, drug court, coffee houses, meeting halls, doctor offices and more. The magazine is filled with articles from professionals in the field and distributed to treatment centers, parents groups, conferences and different initiatives throughout the country.  She hand selects professionals to write articles and proofs and reads every article that enters the magazine. She wants to make sure that the industry is professional and well respected. Her magazine is a reflection of that standard.

Patricia has a passion for helping others and with drug addiction reaching epidemic proportions and increasing every day; her passion is even more driven.

The magazine reaches thousands of people nationally each month through the printed publication, website and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Patricia launched The Sober World Magazine in 2011 after her son Steven died from a prescription drug overdose. This tragedy led her to launch the magazine as a means of giving back to families who are suffering the perils of addiction. She wanted to provide a comprehensive resource that provides education about addiction and the resources that are available to aid in recovery. Her goal is to help eliminate the stigma associated with addiction, present quality resources, and to educate people on addiction and to try to prevent another tragedy from occurring. She believes this can only be done by educating the public and bringing awareness to the problem.

She attended the University of Miami and studied liberal arts. Patricia grew up in Northern New Jersey and moved to Florida 25 years ago.

Patricia also sits on the board at Wayside House which is a drug and alcohol treatment program in Delray Beach, Florida. The program has been in existence since 1974 and serves the indigent population. Patricia has also sponsored many drug and alcohol programs in the community to help spread the word to as many people as she can.

She is also active in the community and can be seen at exhibit tables at many local and national conferences as well as public forums to help spread the word. Mention the word Sober World magazine and everyone has heard of it or gets it directly. Spreading the message of hope and recovery is so important now, more than ever, in hoping to save a life! Patricia has done this in so many ways for so many years.

She is deserving of this award that recognizes individuals who have educated the public about mental health and/or addictions.  As a “one woman show” she has definitely made an impact on communities, workplaces, schools and promoted meaningful family involvement as an essential part of recovery.
